Sekelbos Firewood
The Sekelbos tree is a spiny deciduous tree that grows up to 3.5 m in height in hot climates.
The dead fallen branches dry naturally in the hot desert sun making this dense hardwood the perfect fuel for braai's, barbecues, fireplaces,
pizza ovens, heating, wood burning ovens and stoves.
Wood currently available in Ireland has an average moisture content of between 15% and 40%.
Sekelbos firewood has a moisture content of <2% and so burns longer and hotter than any natural fuel available.
Although slightly more expensive than wood currently on the Irish or European market (Ash, Birch or Oak), you'll find that far less wood
is used due to it's, denseness, hardness and dryness, therefore saving you money in the long term.
Sekelbos wood is considered an invader species in Namibia, so using my wood for all your energy needs, you are not only helping Namibia control an unwanted species but you can help save the Peat Bogs of Ireland by not using Peat as a fuel.
Wood vs Charcoal
Charcoal
When using charcoal to barbeque, that distinctive charcoal smell can transfer to the food causing an unpleasant taste, Some charcoal manufacturers
use a fuel accelerant, for easy lighting and, although non-toxic and harmless, leaves a chemical taste on the food. You also do not get that
distinctive smokey bbq taste when using charcoal.
Wood
Wood is a natural product and all my wood is sourced from a sustainable source in the Namibian desert. Supplied in 20cm-30cm pieces,
ideal for most barbecues and heating appliances. When using Sekelbos to braai or barbecue with, you enhance the flavour of the meat by smoking the food with the
woods’ uniquely scented natural oils, normally only found in a bottle of BBQ sauce.TRY IT!!
The same applies for all your energy needs, Sekelbos burns longer and releases far more energy (heat) than any other wood currently available on the Irish and European market.
Therefore you use less, saving you money and you avoid expensive repairs bills on your wood burning stove, when high moisture content firewood is used
